IOP (Institute of Physics) is developing Acta Physica copycat site !!!

December 3, 2009 by Zweistein   Comments (6)

It has come to my notice that the IOP (Institute of Physics) is developing a new physics social network.

A few months ago some IOP people joined Acta Physica and created this group. It was created by Gary Williams who is the National Coordinator for the IOP Teachers Network. See his details here.

No doubt these people think they can steal the idea of Acta Physica and create a new copycat website by pumping monney and using their publicity base.

We must fight this! Our survival is under threat!

Bring more people to join Acta Physica! Get all your friends to join!

This is so mean!

Do you have the link to their new site?

There should be no threats to our ActaPhysica as long as we keep doing our jobs faithfully. Remember that Acta is a social networking community, with the mutual exchange of knowledge and resource sharing as the main objective! So long as we keep up to our objectives, we need not worry about anybody else!

I would also like to emphasise that merely bringing more people will NOT do any good...for a fertile community like ours to survive, we need quality, not quantity. On that note, with active and faithful participation of each member in the spirit of a team, I see no threats! Afterall, isn't that why its called a "community"?!
